The Rt Rev Henry McGowan, DD was an eminent Anglican Bishop in the first half of the 20th century.〔(National Archives )〕 He was born in 1891,〔“Who was Who” 1897–2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 educated at Bristol Grammar School and St Catharine's College, Cambridge and ordained in 1914.
